Bridging the gap between intention and action.

Your employees know most of what they should be doing to be healthier; they just need to be shown how. Our wellness program is built around a formula that has worked well in the world of EAPs for over 30 years.

One-on-one wellness coaching works much like counseling for mental health issues.  Our wellness coaches are available to meet individually with your employees.  These confidential sessions allow the coach to learn about your employee's lifestyle and use that knowledge to guide them in breaking bad habits and implementing new, sustainable healthy habits.  The coaches also understand how to integrate their suggestions with other related benefits that are available through the EAP.

Awareness – the key to successfully promoting any benefit is awareness. The employee needs to know that we are here when they are ready to change their life. We do a number of things to promote awareness of our wellness benefit and to provide wellness education, which serves to build trust and encourage the employee to reach out to us when the time is right.

  • Wallet Cards
  • Introductory letter to accompany the wallet cards, explaining this new benefit
  • Colorful, professional promotional flyers
  • Bi-monthly wellness newsletter with information, healthy recipes and resources for additional information
  • Healthy-tip-of-the-week emails that are brief, entertaining and informative

Location – The Internet and the telephone are convenient and inexpensive ways to disseminate information. This is why web-based and phone-based wellness services are so popular.  However, as we said at the top of this page, don’t your employees already know most of this stuff? They need somebody to show them how to incorporate wellness into their lives in a realistic manner.

In-person, individualized, one-on-one coaching is the most effective way to accomplish this.

Case study

Bridget works full-time because her family of four needs two incomes to make ends meet. Planning meals, shopping and cooking sometimes feels like a second job.

Bridget realizes her family members weigh more than they should.  She also knows they rely primarily on processed food - when they are not eating fast food - and these choices contribute to her family members' unhealthy weights.

Bridget was apprehensive when she first heard about Ease@Work’s nutritional coaching, but she wants her family to be healthier, so she called for an appointment. She learned a great deal at the first meeting with the Registered Dietitian. She received guidance about menu planning and learned of several healthy meals she could prepare in a little more time than it takes to make the boxed meal that she so often relies on.

One of Bridget’s many Saturday errands is grocery shopping, and after meeting with the dietitian, she was armed with a list full of new items. But she had trouble finding many of them; however, she knew exactly where to find the processed food. It was right at eye-level in aisle five. She only had an hour to finish shopping, so she went on auto-pilot and reverted back to her old list, which she knew from memory.

A few days later she emailed the dietitian and described her frustrating shopping experience. They agreed to meet for session two at the grocery store where the dietitian was able to show her where to find all of the items that were on her new list. During the session, the dietitian also utilized actual nutrition labels to help Bridget to make healthier choices. In some cases the healthier items were actually less expensive than the processed items. The dietitian was also able to remind Bridget about how to prepare some of these new meals.

Following their session, Bridget found it much easier to shop for, plan and prepare home-cooked meals for that week and the weeks ahead. Her family enjoyed the fresh and healthy ingredients.  As an added success, Bridget’s husband even decided to contact Ease to begin fitness coaching sessions!
